Kitchen renos almost done

Well this is the kitchen on the second floor which is our main kitchen it would have been for the second suite , we do have a small kitchen on the main floor too but we use it like a mud room or porch and I know some of you are thinking that this is a nice little kitchen so why renovate..
This is the entrance to the second floor and the wall between the living room and dining room .. what you can't really see here is that the floor slopes down by the door where they took out what was at onetime a bedroom wall and there were also stairs coming up right along that wall in the original house in the 30's or earlier they put on the front stairwell eliminating the inside stairs

The lino in the kitchen was worn, there was not a whole lot of cupboards and the emerald green counters had to go

Here is the mess we had , I ripped out all the old lino and sub floor in the kitchen and while I was at it I took out the half wall between the kitchen and dining room that made it possible to work on the floor ... Here is Ed bringing up the floor level where the old stairs one were.....and yes we took out all the hard wood that was there we had considered putting it back but it was not worth it ...we opted for a real nice laminate instead

We have our work cut out for us ..literally
They did have old fir floor under the hardwood and lino but since they had taken out bedrooms on this floor at one time then there were gaps where there would have been walls...

The new kitchen dinning room and floor

I am still doing the wainscot ting in the kitchen like you can see on the wall in the bottom right part of the picture and on the pole.. Ed was working nights this week so I had to work into the evening too... as the saws and the compressor for the air nailer are a little too noisy.. I wanted to have it done for grad that is coming up this weekend and I have family and friends coming over so I will still have some touch ups to do later but it is livable ... this week I can bake and cook...and hem Lindsey's dress and take pictures and paint and oh it will be a slow week..LOL
